While people are still feeling positive about current economic conditions, overall confidence across the U.S. just slipped to a seven-month low. The present-conditions index actually climbed by about 7 points to 121, but expectations for income, business, and jobs took a hit, dropping the expectations gauge down nearly 6 points to 68. That\u2019s a level we\u2019ve seen linked to recession risks before.<\/p>\n<p>In early Q3, employers cut 23,000 jobs, and unemployment ticked up to about 4%, but mostly because more people left the workforce rather than more jobs being added. Even with all this, homebuying expectations held steady and even kept rising a bit in mid-Q3, with only a slight dip.
