  • Orlando Takes the Top Retirement Spot

A recent ranking placed Orlando first among US cities for retirement, highlighting its mix of affordability, healthcare access, recreation, and daily living advantages.
Florida's lack of individual income, estate, and inheritance taxes strengthened Orlando's appeal, while many retirees also valued staying closer to children and grandchildren.
Orlando's theme parks, restaurants, entertainment venues, and growing cultural scene helped turn retirement homes into family hubs, giving relatives more reasons to visit.
The city ranked as the study's second-most affordable option and scored especially well in healthcare, including access to home healthcare and geriatric care.
That broad mix of costs, care, recreation, and family-friendly amenities helped Orlando outperform more conventional retirement destinations and stand out beyond its tourism reputation.

  • Florida Listings Must Show Truer Tax Estimates

Florida now requires more accurate property tax estimates on residential Real Estate listings, helping figures better match what a new buyer could owe after purchase.
Many listings had shown the seller's current tax bill, which could appear artificially low under a state tax cap and surprise buyers at closing.
In Early-Q3, a county property appraiser's office released guidance explaining the law, after buyers had been confused by tax bills unlike listing estimates.
In Pinellas County, the issue touched ~395K residential parcels, including ~233K single-family homes, showing how widely clearer tax estimates can shape transactions.
Buyers still need due diligence: the county office offers an online tax estimator, and the new law starts listings with numbers closer to reality.
